Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information The Time Story collects, why it is collected, and what choices you have. It applies to the website and app at The Time Story.

2. Account Information

When you create an account we process your email address and authentication details through our authentication provider, plus profile information you choose to add such as display name, username, bio, avatar, interests and social links.

If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from that sign-in.

3. User-Generated Content

We store the TimeStories, moments, media links, uploaded avatars, comments, messages, bookmarks, follows, likes, reports and comparison sessions you create, together with timestamps and the account they belong to.

Content marked private or kept as a draft is restricted by database access rules to your account.

4. Usage and Device Information

We record product activity needed to run features — for example view counts, trending signals, recently viewed stories and onboarding progress.

Our hosting and infrastructure providers process standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type and request logs for security and reliability. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser storage that are necessary for the Service: keeping you signed in, remembering your theme, view-mode and layout preferences, and holding short-lived session state such as guest previews.

You can clear this data in your browser, but signing in and preference memory will stop working as intended.

6. How Information Is Used

To provide and operate the Service: authentication, publishing, discovery, comparison, exports, notifications and messaging.

To keep the Service safe: preventing abuse, handling reports and enforcing our Terms and Community Guidelines.

To improve the product and troubleshoot errors.

We do not sell your personal information.

7. AI Processing

When you use AI features — creating a TimeStory from a prompt or document, refining a moment, generating cover artwork or requesting comparison insights — the relevant prompt text, document text or story content is sent to third-party AI model providers through our AI gateway so the output can be generated.

Do not put confidential or sensitive personal information into AI prompts or uploaded documents.

8. Third-Party Services

We rely on service providers for database and authentication (Supabase), application hosting and delivery, and AI model access. Embedded third-party media, such as YouTube or Wikipedia links inside a TimeStory, is loaded from those providers and subject to their own policies.

9. Data Sharing

We share information with the service providers above so they can operate the Service on our behalf, and where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.

Anything you publish publicly — your public profile and public TimeStories — is shared with the public by design.

10. Storage, Retention and Security

Data is stored in our managed Supabase project and hosting infrastructure. Access to content is controlled by row-level security rules, and traffic is encrypted in transit.

We keep account data and content while your account is active. Deleted content is removed from the live service and may persist briefly in backups.

No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Processing

Our providers may process and store data on servers outside your country. By using the Service you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.

12. Your Rights and Choices

You can view and edit your profile and content in the app at any time, unpublish or delete TimeStories, and export your stories in several formats.

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, or to object to it. Write to us and we will act on valid requests.

13. Account Deletion

Self-service account deletion is not yet available in the app. To have your account and associated content deleted, email admin@thetimestory.com from the address on your account and we will process the request.

14. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

15. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the product evolves. The revision date at the top of the page always reflects the current version.
