Jawaharlal Nehru

Jawaharlal Nehru was born in Allahabad, British India, to Motilal Nehru and Swaruprani Thussu.

As President of the Indian National Congress in Lahore, Nehru declared complete independence (Purna Swaraj) as the goal of the freedom movement.

Nehru took office as the Vice President of the Executive Council, serving as the de facto Prime Minister of the Interim Government of India.

Nehru led the Indian National Congress to a decisive victory in India's first democratic general elections and was re-sworn in as Prime Minister.

Nehru co-founded the Non-Aligned Movement alongside international leaders during its inaugural summit in Belgrade.

Nehru passed away in New Delhi after suffering a heart attack, ending his nearly 17-year tenure as Prime Minister of India.
